The MSD series of receptacles and plugs offers a tool-free solution for disconnecting an internal high-voltage battery pack and delivering short-circuit protection.
The device uses a two-stage lever system to open the high-voltage interlock (‘HVIL’) circuit prior to contact separation. All high-voltage conducting surfaces on the receptacles are touch-proof to IP2XB.
A second range is the Excel-Mate HVSL (high voltage safety lock) series of plugs and receptacles, which is designed for electric vehicle applications including power and signal interconnect.
One-way to three-way devices are available, rated up to 1kV and handling from 23A up to 350A.
A third series, Excel-Mate HVPT is for high-voltage pass-through connection.
With a plastic housing and a cable gland, the lightweight series meets IP67, 360° shielding and is tated to 1kV. Once again, there are one-way, two-way and three-way options, as well as multiple coding positions.
Further to these, Excel-Mate CCS Combo meets IEC62196-3 and is intended for both AC and DC charging – two DC power contacts are available for fast charging in public areas.
Both the CCS Combo inlet and plug are equipped with a temperature sensor and a coloured LED to monitor charging status and temperature. 60, 125 and 200A options are available, with in any required cable length.
